The book looks into the works, narratives, and responses of prominent radical Italian architects and “anti” designers, such as Superstudio, Archizoom, Studio Alchimia, Memphis and Ettore Sottsass. The design approach of this book reflects the movements idealistic-utopian beliefs channeled through photomontages and colorful objects that point out problems in Modernism architecture and design—specifically the Bauhaus. Also inspired by the expressive, freewheeling lifestyle of the hippie 1960s that influences the movements. The book illustrates a resurgence of these movements back to the contemporary era, and how they triggered the emergence of Postmodernism that impacted the contemporary design culture and thinking today. They are known for its ambitious utopian beliefs in which they are against the rationalist rules of Modernism and its Anti-Bauhaus attitude, so looking up is the ideal way to see their narratives. The two guiding concepts for the design are that the camera works like the eye, and language of illumination is inherent in the world of photography.The first concept applies to the logo. The inverted logotype is to represent the theory that all images formed on the retina and the camera are inverted. The second concept applies to the abbreviation of the museum's name: LA.MP and as branding identity expansion into the environment and interactive media. I proposed illuminated medias and concept related to light like LED panel for way-finding, illuminated exterior to display the mark and motion sequence. Design during the course of 14 weeks.Griffith Observatory started as one man’s vision for inspiring people through astronomy. Today, it has become the most visited public observatory in the world.The original vision is to turn visitors into observers either directly or by experiencing the results of astronomical study. By lifting the concepts of “vision” and “observing”, the aim of rebranding Griffith Observatory is to attract more audience who favors curiosity through the collective lens of astronomy, science and arts. The design approach is expressive and inspired by human-crafts. Some new branding experiences have been introduced are space film festival and projection mapping on the exterior of the building to turn visitors inquisitive from afar.
